Grand Rapids Expungement

Having a felony or misdemeanor criminal record can have a lasting impact on your employment opportunities. Michigan law allows you to expunge one felony or two misdemeanors.

To expunge a felony conviction, you cannot have a federal or out-of-state criminal conviction on your record, cannot have been convicted of a felony for which the maximum punishment is life in prison, and cannot have been convicted of criminal sexual conduct. In addition, the conviction you want to expunge cannot be a violation of the Michigan Motor Vehicle Code. You must have paid all fines and costs stemming from the conviction and 5 years must have passed since the date of your conviction.

If you meet these requirements, consult a criminal record expungement attorney to assess your criminal record and determine if you are eligible for expungement. This is a process through which application must be presented to a court. Retain an experienced attorney to help you clear your record.
